At first it seems it's simply a dangerous rescue mission, but soon we realise there is much more going on. I really enjoyed the fast pace of the book, its humour and many twists. Extremely entertaining, fun, fast read, I loved this book. I think I fell in love with Schaffer a bit. Five stars. ( ) I thoroughly enjoyed the movie with Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood. Wanted to read the original book. Finally found a copy at an OR coast used book store (Robert's). The movie screenplay was quite generous in use of guns and explosives with numerous deaths. Ironically, the original book has no deaths from gunfire. Actually few deaths. I think this speaks volumes about film entertainment since the late 60's (and before). Good book. Classic Alistair MacLean. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

The classic World War II thriller from the acclaimed master of action and suspense. Now reissued in a new cover style. One winter night, seven men and a woman are parachuted onto a mountainside in wartime Germany. Their objective: an apparently inaccessible castle, headquarters of the Gestapo. Their mission: to rescue a crashed American general before the Nazi interrogators can force him to reveal secret D-Day plans. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
