This is a hilarious book about a fantastical home run that falls a little short. It would be great for talking about tall tales, reasons for historical problems, word art. The students could create their own reasons for funny historical occuraces such as the liberty ball cracking that could be caused by a baseball, or they could write about Casey's third attempt at redemption.

I found this book a bit tedious. I can expect a young baseball fan would enjoy this book and find it intriguing that Casey could muster the power to hit a ball around the world. ( )

This humorous sequel to "Casey at the Bat" is a beautifully illustrated 12" x 14" picture book. It is well worth reading to young children to demonstrate what fun can be found in good poetry. ( )

This was a fun book to read, particularly at the start of baseball season. anyone familiar with the original will enoy this book.

Summary:
The book Casey Back at bat is about a very muscular guy that hit the baseball so hard it went around the world, back in time and into outer space. The ball ended come back to the field and the other player caught it and Casey ended up being out.

Personal Reaction:
I think this would be a great book to read to younger students because they will actually believe it.

Classroom Extension:
1. put students in groups and have them draw where the ball went.
2. have students explain how far the ball went. ( )
