The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop: A Novel (utgåvan 2020)

The was a quick, enjoyable read catching up on many of the characters from Fried Green Tomatoes. The book follows the lives of Idgie Threadgoode and Ruth Bennett with emphasis on Ruth's son, James Buddy Threadgoode (nee Bennett) who had been adopted by the Threadgoode's and his and Peggy's daughter, Ruth. The vignette-type narration is held together by Dot Weems' weekly newspaper, her Christmas letters, and finally her emails to the people who lived in Whistle Stop, AL before the town became deserted. This is a very upbeat book. ( )

A book with no plot may not sound fun - but for fans of "Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe" this book was like catching up with old friends. It takes all the "lose ends" from the previous book and creates new stories for all the surviving characters. Weaving back in forth in time the new stories help flesh out the old and we get to learn more about some of our favorite people. Bud, Peggy, Ruthie, Evelyn Couch, Dot, and more. It is light, funny, and wholesome; it's like coming home. An excellent companion to the first. ( )

I like how Fannie Flagg's books always make me feel good. This was a great follow up to Fried Green Tomatoes and I hope they make this into a movie also. ( )

If you have read her other books this is a nice conclusion. However, it does not pack the punch of Fried Green Tomatoes. ( )

Excellent book. Sequel to Fried Green Tomatoes. Gives you the warm fuzzies. Loved it. ( )
