I enjoyed this less than I enjoyed A Touch of Darkness, but it was still good. Mainly the ending. And even though it wasn't absolutely amazing, I was completely addicted.

4⭐️ 3🔥

"You are my weakness, losing you is my greatest fear, and your love is my most treasured possession."
Persephone became annoying. Her emotions became out of control. She's acting kind of immature. She won't listen to the wise gods trying to help her. And she's constantly keeping secrets from those closest to her.
I 👏 love 👏 Hermes 👏 😂"I can be a sister!" and I had never heard the term 'sisters before misters' before.
I've nearly cried. I've laughed too. I've been frustrated and annoyed. At one point I was literally shaking out of anger and hurt!
These gods are such big babies.
There wasn't much excitement in this book and it was full of drama, mostly self-inflicted. And I wanted to yell at Persephone for being dumb 90% of the book. I still love the story as a whole and I will be continuing the series!

Below are my SPOILER thoughts and reactions:

41%: Persephone is starting be become annoying. She's acting kind of immature. She won't listen to the wise gods trying to help her. And she's constantly keeping secrets from those closest to her.
Uh yeah girl. You messed up. Stop fighting the consequences. And stop being mad at hades. He's just trying to protect you.

73%: They have serious communication issues. Oh shit. I see some drama coming. I bet that Hades can't save Lexa and that pisses off persephone makes her retaliate.
They still haven't explained why she doesn't remember that one night.
Wtf Persephone. He asks you to marry him and be his queen you should say "yes!". Dumbass. He is everything. What is your damn hesitation???

100%: Lexa waking up is heartbreaking... I teared up.
A Touch of Ruin.... yeah well Scarlett you've ruined me.
Wtf all the gods are just misunderstood.
I seriously about lost my shit when she went into the forest of despair. ( )

Each novel in this series is getting better. This one was very emotional. It was heartbreaking. Persephone was soooo annoying in this book. She was like a belligerent brat throughout most of the book. There were moments where you understood and could even accept her behavior, but for the most part, she was kind of the worst. I still love Hades and loved him in this one. I cannot wait to read this story from his point of view! ( )

This was better than the first one! Something about the writing style in this one just clicked and I could tell almost immediately in the first chapter. The romance, the chemistry, the emotional turmoil, the spice?!?!?!? I loved everything about this book, I literally couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the A Touch of Malice! ( )

As expected, I should have stopped after the first one. This was a mess. ( )

Cover art win, again.

Persephone is a dolt. She rushes headlong into stupid situations without thinking and causes so many problems for herself because she just doesn't stop to think before she goes and does something. She had success with one article making Hades more likeable and getting him to show the mortals he's actually a good guy and now she thinks she's the answer to getting Olympians to being better. Her insecurities drive her to do and say really dumb things in this book (and the first one but I was giving her some leeway because it was her first real relationship/life experience) that make you want to shake her.

Hades is the king of withholding information as well. He says at one point that 'he's been alone for millenia so he's not used to having someone interested in what he does' and that hits the reader hard and you forgive him for not sharing things. But after Persephone tells him she wants to know things, he still doesn't reveal too much; being pragmatic.

There's a major event that sends Persephone into a spiral and causes so many other problems. Her mother is still a major cunt in this one too. The public knows about Hades and Persephone and she's being threatened by someone who wants to out her as a Goddess [she's kept that fact hidden] and the fact that she sort of ignores it until the last second and doesn't at least have an action plan or a backup plan to the hairbrained bullshit she does try is tragic.

I was annoyed but intrigued with book 2. The mortal rebellion undercurrent has gained strength and I want to see how that will pan out more than I care about Hades and Persephone's relationship to be honest. I really don't even care about Persephone learning about her powers. I am however interested in learning about Hecate more (she's my patron Goddess) and how she'll play a role in the battles to come.

Recommended for those who like Greek mythology (some basic knowledge will be helpful) and easy enough for new romance readers. Does help to read book 1 A Touch of Darkness first. Only a 2/5 on the spice meter though.

**All thoughts and opinions are my own. I read this using my personal KU subscription.** ( )
