This books was part of a set about animals that focuses on one animal. Each page shows and describes a different part of the animal. Some of the pages in the tiger book described eyes, teeth, ears, fur, and tails. The middle of the book has a page that tells what the animal is, but kids will have guessed by then. There are a few more informational pages about where they live and what the baby tigers are called. There is a page with 10 questions. The questions really sum up the information presented in the book. The last page has a glossary of new words relating to tigers.

Personal Reaction

This book was excellent. I read it to a goup of kindergarteners and they were very attentive and they listened well enough to know the answers to the questions. It was a very interactive book and kept the children engaged.

Classroom Extension

-I would use this during a unit about animals, especially tigers. I would read it to the class. then have them write the answers to the questions. I would use the words in the glossary as a word wall.

-I would read the book to the children in my class, then have them each research an animal and make their own short informational book about that animal. ( )
