The acknowledgement to the author's adopted child helps make this book make more sense. Adopted children may not always feel like they belong right away, but they are loved and fit in. Turning this story into a lamb being accepted into a family and feeling odd and left out is a great way to make this story relatable. It's an easy to understand way to share these feelings with kids, because emotions can be big, tough and scary. This story is very sweet and the illustrations make it even better. The animals are adorable and the story is important and lovely. Three out of five stars. Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. The gift of belonging. Grace is the only sheep in the household and it makes her sad. Then the family dog gives her a lesson in what REALLY makes a family. Perfect read for those who don't feel that they fit in (a ginger in a family of brunettes?), for any sort of blended or adoptive family, or whoever feels alone in their own home. The illustrations are simple, colorful, and very meaningful. I requested and received a free temporary ebook from Thomas Nelson: CHILDREN'S via NetGalley.
