I love that these issues give you more back story on certain characters besides hitting the high notes of Wizard and Glass.
And you can see how easily the ka-tet of Roland, Alain, and Bert are broken due to Roland's love of Susan. One wonders what would have happened if King had chosen to end the store differently.
Once again the story flows easily. The illustrations are top notch. I love the colors and the sense of movement you get with regards to people's clothes. You also see the illustrations always have Roland almost always has his face in shadow or you just see his silhouette.
The issue ends with Marten Broadcloak coming to ensure that Farson wins and our Gunslingers die.
"Marten Broadcloak...The right hand of Farson...and the left nut of Satan hisself."
I definitely love the extras you get with these issues which is why I keep buying them solo. This one goes into the childhood of Rhea of Coos. Guess what she always sucked. But you get to see what turned her truly evil. Then we get a panel on King before we get an in-depth look into how Eldred Jonas turned corrupt. On can't help feel sorry for him after losing when it came time for him to prove himself a true Gunslinger. ( )
