These stories made me think and were so vivid in my mind. Every character was complex and complicated, I was unsure if I should love or dislike them. I loved how Narayan can create characters and an atmosphere with so few pages. My favorite stories were The Snake-Song, Forty-five a Month, The Axe, A Willing Slave, Leela's Friend, Naga, Cat Within, God and the Cobbler, and Hungry Child. Simple stories, about every day people and events either every day or extraordinary in their lives. The style of writing matches the stories perfectly. Somehow, I found of most of the stories sad as ultimately nothing ever really changed or progressed but more or less stayed the same (a road engine or statue more or less...) inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
