This book was an informational story told from Shamu the whales point of view about a sea pup who they think is lost. In my opinion this book was a good way to present facts about these animals through the telling of a story instead of just presenting facts. The story causally gave away facts about these animals as if that wasn't the main point of the book but the story about lost seal pup was. For example the story goes on about the penguin searching for the lost pup, "The penguins waddle back and forth across the ice. 'We're keeping our eyes open for Little Pip. But none of us can see him.'" This fits into the story but also tells a fact about how penguins walk. A second thing I like is the organization of this book. The whole book is set up as above with the story but on the very back page there is a page dedicated to ,"Learn all about the animals in this book!" There is ten bullet points with different animals talked about in the story with a couple of following sentences with key facts. For example the first one says, "Killer Whales." in bold and then says, "Like Shamu, are large black-and white mammals. They weight a lot (between 3,000-12,000 pounds). and can grow up to 33 feet long." It's a great way to learn more about the animals in the story you just enjoyed. ( )
