Story accretion. Not a bad approach. ( ![]() An absolutely brilliant collection of stories! I look forward to reading much more by Ted Chiang. Somewhere in the 4-4.5 range. Supremely inventive but a little on the dead/cold side. I picked this up solely because I wanted to read "Story of Your Life", the inspiration for the movie Arrival (which I loved). I have also heard good things about Chiang's work, so fully expected to love it. I didn't. There is way too much science (physics and medicine) and too much religion for my taste. Many of the stories just dragged on, even if I generally liked them (too much scientific explanation). I enjoyed "Story of Your Life" the most. I also liked "Tower of Babylon". "Understand" and "Liking What You See: A Documentary" were both interesting but also too drawn out for me. Arrival (2016) was one of my favourite films of the decade, so I was very excited to read the short story that inspired it. Chiang is such a brilliant, clever, and creative writer and the capability of his prose is inspiring; I loved the story 'Understand'. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
