Det finns inga diskussioner på LibraryThing om den här boken. I did not expect to absolutely love this book! I read it on the strong insistence of others, and I am glad I did! I was initially turned off by the idea of reading such a hyped up fantasy romance book, but this one deserves all the hype! The spicy bits are sexy, the characters are pretty relatable, the settings are rich, the action is palpable, and the ending left me yearning for more! I'm glad I read this one after the second one has already come out, that way I can dive right in! I recommend this book, even if you think you won't be into it. I bet you'll find something in the story that tickles you. ;) For everyone who thinks that BookTok books are always not the best: Then this book is a huge exception! Just read it trust me! It's a glorious mix of How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter and a little bit of The Hunger Games and I simply devoured it! The book jumps right of in the action and never speeds down, I simply loved every bit of it. I enjoyed all of the characers and at the end I had a little tear in my eye. But the biggest reason you should read this book is because of Violet and Xaden! OMG I love their energy together. He is very protecting but leaves her the room she needs to grow. The only reasons you shouldn't read this books are you will become so addicted everything else becomes unimportant and the book ends with a huge cliffhanger which is why you will have to buy the next part as fast as possible. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Welcome to the brutal and elite world of Basgiath War College, where everyone has an agenda, and every night could be your last . . . Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general - also known as her tough-as-talons mother - has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you're smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away . . . because dragons don't bond to 'fragile' humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother's daughter - like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant. She'll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise. Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret. Alliances will be forged. Lives will be lost. Traitors will become allies . . . or even lovers. But sleep with one eye open because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

So many people (especially avid fantasy readers) have a problem with the world-building in Fourth Wing, but I don't have an issue with it. For someone who doesn't have much experience with fantasy novels, I find this an easy read because the world-building isn't overwhelming, making the story easy to follow.
The romance isn't my style (too graphic) so I mostly skipped those parts. The modern dialogue feels out of place in a setting like this. Also, was there really a need for the over-abundant use of curse words? It feels like none of the characters can finish a sentence without using the F word.
Overall, Fourth Wing is a fast-paced and action-packed novel. While the story is predictable, it is mostly entertaining. The dragons are funny! I also like Violet's bond with her sister and friends.
