MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK Love in the Headlines is such a sweet read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Journalists Carleigh and Trey are always in competition with each other, and I think it’s safe to say that they don’t really like each other, because they each want to win that special story that drops right into their lap. What will eventually happen to these two? Will they find the story that makes them famous? Author Penny Zeller does such a wonderful job writing this book. It is Christian fiction at its best, and we see the Christian life pouring out of the lives of the characters. Both Trey and Carleigh, along with the other supporting characters are spot on with each scene. Carleigh’s shih tzu Sullivan Theodore IV and Trey’s German Shepherd Jaxx were adorable in each of their scenes as well. And they were funny, so much humor. I laughed so much reading this story, and much of it was laugh out loud moments. I love how Ms. Zeller incorporates humor, faith and sweet romance in her books. And there was a bit of a mystery in this one was well. I am giving Love in the Headlines Five Stars! If you enjoy a good clean romance, this one I very highly recommend. A special thanks to the author/publisher for a copy of this book. I am not required to write a positive review, the opinions here are mine alone. I am disclosing this with my review in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255. Love in the Headlines by Penny Zeller is a Christian Contemporary Romance. Trey Montgomery and Carleigh Admas work together at a newspaper. Their lives are full of their two dogs, boss, co-workers, friends, and community. Carleigh’s dog, Sullivan Theodore, adds entertainment to the story. Forced to become a team, these two apparent enemies report on the news for the community. This story has much to keep you interested, from secret admirers to a dog thief to a doggie birthday party. Even though I am not a pet person, I enjoyed this book once I got into it. I think my favorite character in this book is Sullivan Theoodore because a small dog with such a big name is comedic in itself. Plus, he is quite the Houdini artist. So if you enjoy Christian Contemporary Romances or books involving dogs, check out this book for yourself. I definitely recommend it. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. Need to cleanse your reading palate after an emotional read? Love in the Headlines by Penny Zeller is just the solution. A light-hearted rom-com for dog lovers, you will laugh aloud often, maybe recognize your dog, and wonder at a small town that can be so close-knit. Carleigh Adams and Trey Montgomery, competing writers for the small Oakville Daily, suddenly find themselves equal parts of the Oakville Daily Duo. They are assigned to work every story as a team. But this is one team that can’t stand itself! This is a fun frenemy-to-lovers story. It borders on the cozy genre, but not quite. I loved seeing inside the slowly evolving thinking of both Carleigh and Trey. Their newsroom coworkers are interesting characters, as well. The dogs steal the show, as might be expected. I really enjoyed this part. It brought back memories of chasing our first Shih Tzu all over the neighborhood. Zeller captures the stubborn, lovable Shih Tzu personality perfectly. And the big dog/ Shepherd characteristics! How fun! Except when they cause trouble for Carleigh and Trey, or throw them together in one too many undesirable situations! Some great nods to the past with a vintage newspaper minivan that somehow had me channeling Scooby Doo. Snippets of faith moments, laughter, gentle romance, and a clean, light mystery make this a novel that I would recommend to anyone. I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit, plus I bought a copy. No positive review was required, and all opinions are my own. This may be a rushed review because I am in the middle of packing. I have found a wonderful place called Oakville. The people are so nice and there are quaint little shops and a grocery store where most people shop. I love the small town feel and I’m excited to get to be neighbors with the Oakville Daily Duo. The charm of this town would be perfect but alas it is fictional. So I guess I won’t be packing up after all. The author makes it seem so realistic that I wanted to move there. Oh well I’ll just get to know my neighbors through this story. I adored the bickering between Carleigh and Trey. They both work at the same paper and find themselves assigned as a duo to go out and write articles and take photos for the newspaper. It is so funny to see them try to one up each other with a sarcastic tone. Oh but I’m not fooled. These two like each other but are too stubborn to admit it. When you add in the two dogs they own, they make the perfect couple. The story delves into a mystery happening in this small town complete with flowers being sent anonymously to someone, a strange clown wandering around, things being stolen and now a sweet little chihuahua that has been dognapped. Looks like our duo has their hands full with so much shenanigans going on. Tensions rise as more dogs are stolen and the town begins to wonder who is taking their precious pet? This has been a fun read with wonderful characters, a mixture of mystery, faith and love in the air. Learning to trust God when you find yourself in trouble is a great lesson for our little town. I will miss them but hope to see them soon in another book. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
All Carleigh Adams wants is a relaxing evening. But Sullivan Theodore IV, her wayward shih tzu, has other plans. After escaping from home, Sullivan Theodore unlawfully enters what Carleigh assumes is a stranger's house via a doggy door. Much to Carleigh's horror, it is actually the home of her coworker and nemesis, Trey "The Irritating" Montgomery. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |

Mind you, this is so squeaky clean that your preteen (tween) or grandma can both read it and you won't have a worry in the world.
The story is a bit slow paced but it is entertaining. While the folks traipsing around town are interesting, the true stars are a tiny feisty doggie and a leaping, loveable German Shepherd.
