The striking purple-pink book cover immediately caught my eye. Its graphic of a bridge hinting at some hidden mysteries and secrets! From the very first page, I was hooked!

Meet Meghan, a hardworking and dedicated ICU nurse has witnessed heer fair share of some gruesome injuries and grave illnesses. But when Caitlin is brought into her unit with a traumatic brain injury, Meghan’s life takes a very dark turn!

The twisty faith entwining Caitlin and Meghan becomes a relentless nightmare, shaking Meghan’s trust in those she loves and believes in, and putting her life in jeopardy!

The talented Mary Kubica’s latest fast-paced thriller SHE’S NOT SORRY is her creepiest work yet, with layers of spine-tingling twists that has kept me glued to the pages. I couldn't turn them fast enough to uncover the truth!

SHE’S NOT SORRY is fascinating and riveting, you would want to put whatever you are doing on hold because once you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down! ( )

I listened to this book in one day! Very quick read and I enjoyed it! This was about a woman who was divorced and raising her daughter. Women in Chicago keep getting murdered/raped. She ends up going to a divorce group and meets up with someone she went to high school with. And they start hanging out and reconnecting. SPOILER: Long story short, she's actually someone else and pretending to be this other girl. I saw that twist coming a mile away. But she then cons the girl. And she's also the girlfriend of her ex. The story bounces back and forth, but you don't actually realize it does till later. I figured that out based on the phone call. I was a little confused at first, because I was like wait, that's the voicemail that the father had played for her, but now it's happening. So I realized ahead of time that they were bouncing back and forth in time.

Very well done, considering you're bouncing in time and don't realize it. I was like, "Hey wait a minute!" but wasn't totally lost, especially listening on audio, so that's impressive.

The poor main character is getting it from all ends, this person impersonating a friend from high school, her daughter being a douche, her ex, and a coworker she's friends with ends up being the guy murdering the people in Chicago. Great story, not realistic, but enjoyed the ride! ( )

Meghan Michaels is a nurse and single mom to teen Sienna. She receives a call that Sienna is held hostage and to send money. Meanwhile, she is caring for a patient named Caitlin, who jumped from a bridge and now has a traumatic brain injury. Meghan notices the people who visit Caitlin, and she is curious as something seems to be off. The more she finds out about Caitlin, the more suspicious and frightened she becomes.
At a divorced persons meeting, an old friend from high school appears, Nat, who Meghan realizes is a victim of abuse. Meghan confides in Nat. Her co-worker, Luke, is having problems with his pregnant wife, Penelope. Ben, Meghan's ex, has a new girlfriend, but Meghan has been hiding a secret from him. Plus, there is a murderer loose in Chicago. Lots going on here!
I enjoyed it, and was surprised at the twist! ( )

Mary Kubica's "She's Not Sorry", published in 2024, is a thriller set in Chicago, and revolves around an ICU nurse, a serial rapist, and a girl pushed from a pedestrian overpass. It had all the makings of a good suspense novel but failed to deliver. I only finished the novel because I was fairly certain that I knew who the rapist was, and I wanted to see if I were right. (I was!)

The novel's protagonist is Meghan, a divorced mother of a teenage daughter, who works in an ICU nurse. She's good at her job and at balancing twelve-hour shifts and spending time with her daughter. She's also paranoid, gets involved in things that are none of her business, and because Kubica chose to have a first-person narrator, we know every detail about her life and her thoughts. It's really annoying, both the narration and the character herself. I also found it unlikely that Meghan would be involved in so many aspects of the story. Many of her actions are frankly unbelievable. The fact that everyone confides in Meghan is another sore point for me, and the way she just drops characters out of her narrative was unsatisfying.

I admit that there was one plot twist that I didn't see coming. However, Meghan's actions and thoughts before and after the big reveal don't add up. If the main character lets you know all of her thoughts, why were we unaware of the big secret?

To wrap up: a mediocre plot, an annoying main character, and very much a disappointing ending. ( )

In this intense novel, Mary weaves a tale of secrets, deception, and betrayal as the protagonist, Meghan, finds herself embroiled in a web of lies that threatens to unravel her life..............
