This is a sweet book on a class writing about all the different types of fathers, and how much they love their fathers. Some issues with using this book in a classroom: not all kids have dads who are in their lives. Not all kids have great relationships with their dads like in this book. I liked the book “Father’s Day” by Anne Rockwell. One reason I liked the book was because of the writing. The book went through each child’s father and explained what they liked most about them. “Charlie went first, ‘My father is a terrific person. He has lots of friends, and I know why.’” “Jessica read next. ‘I have two fathers and love them both.’” The writing in the book went through all the different fathers of many cultures. Another aspect I liked about the book was the illustrations. On each page it displayed a child and their father and their favorite activity to do together. The illustrations also took up the whole page and were brightly colored. Lastly, the illustrations also accurately showed facial expressions so the reader knew how the character was feeling. The big idea of this story is to love your family, especially your parents, because they do a lot for you. I like this book especially for younger children because the illustrations are very big and take up the whole page. One other thing I liked about this book was that they were a lot of different characters in it, and all of those characters were very different from one and another. For example, one character has red hair, one has black skin, one girl had two dads, etc. I like this book because it shows the readers how important it is to treat and respect your families, mostly dads. “Father’s Day,” was not only showing the main idea about appreciating your parents, but it also showed a value on friendship. One character in the book talks about how,” I was sure Evan was writing about the camping trip he and his dad went on.” Although this is a very simple thought, it still showed how the one speaking paid attention to his friend and cared about what he did with his dad enough to remember it. One other thing I liked about it was that it did not just tell the audience that the boys only did boy things with their dads, and the girls only did girl things with their dads. The story included a girl painting the house with her dad, which is something one might say is a “manly” task. Overall I thought this was a very cute and simple book and I think children would enjoy reading it. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
