I have always loved Jane Austin. Her books can really make you think. Pride and Perjury is from the perspective of secondary characters. I truly enjoyed the additional information and the perspective of others. There are stories from the perspective of Wickham and how he ends up with Lydia. The Rector in Emma has his own short story that includes some characters from Pride and Prejudice. I definitely recommend this book to all the Jane Austin fans out there. ( )

If you are a historical fiction fan, you will enjoy Pride and Prejudice.

From the perspective of the housekeeper’s eyes, this is a collection of stories about the Bennett family that provides a glimpse into the personalities and events that happened and insight into flirtations of the staff.

This is a delightful collection that takes you into Jane Austen‘s time. The format is a perfect beach read.

Another wonderful book by Alice McVeigh! This book of stories is inspired by different events and characters from Pride and Prejudice (as well as Emma) and cover many plot points from the book. I love getting an inside look into a minor character’s thoughts or seeing a scene play out from a different point of view. How does Hill survive caring for Mrs. Bennett’s poor nerves and what might have happened for Lydia and Wickham to run away together? All of this and more is beautifully detailed in a similar style to Austen herself. I laughed out loud and enjoyed every clever detail. I loved reading these scenes as imagined by McVeigh! Very well done and I highly recommend! I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. ( )

I really enjoyed this book as well as the extra book the author sent called ‘Darcy’ Thank you.
The writing captured that of Jane Austen and I really liked how the stories were written from another characters perspective which widened the world of the original stories.
Bravo Ms McVeigh ( )

Four and a half stars. This was a truly delightful collection of short stories based in the world of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and also with hints of Emma and Northanger Abbey as well. (More on that in a bit.) Any Austen fan would enjoy this, as each story takes us to a different part of the tale, from a different pair of eyes.

My favorites were "Captivating Mr. Darcy," which painted Caroline Bingley in a different light than I'd considered before, "A Heliotrope Ribbon," giving us a look at exactly what happened between Lydia and Wickham at Brighton, and "Pride and Perjury," which tells us about Mr. Elton's time in Bath. There were a few I liked less than others, but on the whole they were enjoyable.

What I liked best about this collection was the way the author wove the characters of Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Northanger Abbey were woven into each other's stories. It wasn't heavily done; in fact, I would have liked to see more of it. It's fascinating to think of Austen's best characters crossing paths this way. Hopefully there'll be more stories in the future.
