I thought this book was a really great retelling of the story of Mary's life and the illustrations were beautiful. However, this would be a tough book to use in the classroom. I am pretty sure that you would not be able to use this at all in a public school, because religion is such a sore subject for many parents and they do not want their children exposed to religion. However, I could definitely see this book being used in a private Catholic middle or high school setting. This could be used to teach all about the life of Mary, and some information about the life of Jesus as well. I believe this book would be best for middle or high school because although it is not copied verbatim from the dictionary, it does have a lot of the same wording, which I used to struggle with understanding up until I got to high school. I think this would be a nice way to transition into actually using the Bible and reading straight from it and actually understanding what is being said. ( )
