Det finns inga diskussioner på LibraryThing om den här boken. It is definitely different. Not a cheery sunshiny book. But I did enjoy the read. It threw some real curve balls. ( ![]() Did not like this book. Suspense tale of family loyalty and secrets. Told through narrative of Amanda, Ruth , Carl. What I liked was how the mystery deepens with each chapter moving back and forth in time with no resolution until the very end. The plot was interesting, but the narrator/author chose to forgive the characters their flaws (and make characters forgive the flaws of one another) beyond the point of realism, just so it would have a nice clean ending. Psychological thriller about two sisters and the child they both love. Big disappointment that felt like a waste of time, ultimately: I was hoping for a twist but the answer to the mystery was exactly what I thought it was. Of course it's an Oprah book. Two stars instead of one because it did have well-written characters. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
Worn out from nursing soldiers at a Milwaukee hospital and struggling to recover from a traumatic love affair, Amanda Starkey returns to her family's rural Wisconsin farm to stay with her beloved sister, Mattie, and a young niece, Ruth. An Oprah Book Club selection and bestseller in hardcover, Drowning Ruth, now in paperback, is a stunning portrait of the ties that bind sisters together and the forces that tear them apart. Schwarz's first novel explores themes of family love, sibling rivalry, duty, loyalty, and a possible murder. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
