![]() Ingen/inga Det finns inga diskussioner på LibraryThing om den här boken. This is one of the best biographical books I have read. In it Aitken describes the events surrounding his fall from grace and is ill-fated attempt to disprove allegations made against him. Thankfully the book never falls into self-justification (as political memoirs so often do). Instead, Aitken accepts his fate as self-inflicted, even though many of the more serious allegations he faced were malicious. The book also describes the writer's path to salvation and understanding of spiritual truth. Despite Aitken's unique position and journey, in many ways his journey to understanding his faith seems very 'normal'. No bright lights, no Damascus road, just an ever-growing understanding that his own pride was his worst enemy and that before God humility was the only course of action that is open. The reason his journey seems 'normal' is because pride is a problem that every man faces. We can relate to the book because we know that in some small measure it not only could have been us, it is us. Thoroughly recommended. ( ![]() inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
In 1994, Jonathan Aitken was hotly tipped to succeed John Major as the next leader of the Conservative Party, but within a year he was buried beneath accusations of pimping, arms dealing and corruption. In this text, he tells his own story. Inga biblioteksbeskrivningar kunde hittas. |
