The Story of the Kites is a fictional book about three children learning how to build kites. The setting of this story is particularly important to the different events that happen in the story. The illustrations do a wonderful job of displaying the setting with Chinese-inspired art from the era in which the story takes place. The children in the story complete their trial and error of new kites in Chinese neighborhoods, rice fields, and off of large hills in their village. This setting in the story tells the reader that the story is explaining a fictional representation of how people first began using kites. This setting really has no other purpose than to provide a place for the children in the story to experiment with new kites! The author does a wonderful job of displaying the setting in a way that catches the reader's eye. ( ) This story is about three young boys that want to learn to fly. In there journey they try all things from making wings out of paper and bamboo or chicken feathers. Everyone in the village doubted them, but in the end they surprised them all because they were able to make something that no one else knew about. They made kites and everyone was in love with them, soon they began to sell them so that everyone could learn how to fly too. This story was very interesting to my 7 year old. He thought it was funny and neat at the same time. Teachers could use this book to show students that even though they may have chores or responsibilities that they don't like, they can always try to make it fun for themselves. The reading level is 3.5. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
