An informational book documenting the journey of school integration through the use of real photos.

"Remember" is a collection of real-life photographs that were taken during the Civil Rights Movement. The pictures tell a story by themselves without any captions needed. In the book, Morrison describes informational facts that were happening during this time, as well as some of the feelings the individuals in the photographs may have been thinking or feeling.

Wonderful photos that capture many elements of the Civil Rights movement with a focus on both black and white people working together to better the society they live in. ( )

This book had numerous photos that depicted the historic events of segregation of schools. It showed the process prior to the Brown vs Board decision and during the protests along with a happy ending of the children all getting along in the same classroom and becoming friends. It is a great tool to show the history of schools and race. I could see 8-10 year old kids doing a project after reading groups of books similar to this. It would be suitable when the unit is about history of schools and segregation. ( )

This book is dedicated to Denise McNair, Carole Robertson, Addie Mae Collins, and Cynthia Wesley, who died in the racist bombing of their Birmingham church on September 15, 1963. Things are better now. Much, much better. But remember why and please remember us. Their lives short, their deaths quick. Neither were in vain.
