Ik heb dit deel dan toch maar 4 sterren gegeven. Het is echt lekker leesvoer en een mooie afsluiter van de serie. Hier en daar vloog het verhaal bijna uit de bocht doordat de actie zich op verschillende fronten bevond, maar het bleef toch allemaal goed te volgen en alle goede dingen (kameraadschap, humor, makkelijk leesbaar) zitten ook weer in dit boek. Ik ga Sparhawk en zijn vrienden wel missen. ( )

La suerte está echada. Las fuerzas de la oscuridad has llegado demasiado lejos, y el rapto de Ehlana ha terminado por cegar cualquier salida. También los elenios, los tamules y sus aliados, dirigidos por Sparhawk, han avanzado entre victorias y derrotas en su unidad y disposición para el combate.

La trama de esta espectacular trilogía se va a resolver en Cyrga, la misteriosa morada de unos seres implacables y destructores. No es un último reducto sino el espacio mítico donde se librará la gran batalla, aquélla en la que dioses y hombres deben dirimir los rumbos futuros de los pueblos que habitan el peculiar universo de Eddings. La ciudad oculta remata así, con poderoso y épico acento, la trilogía El Tamuli , una de las mas imaginativas y apasionantes obras del género fantástico. Y es que se trata de una lectura absorbente: la mejor para quienes, a veces, sienten la necesidad de trasladarse a un mundo de héroes y sombras.

I know that David Eddings books are very much a repeated formula from series to series but that does not take away from my enjoyment of them. I first read his books many years ago when I chose them because they were the longest books I could find. I enjoy his characters and the plot and I find that in general they stand up to the test of time as long as you can enjoy the raging sexism. ( )

Finally slogged my way all the way to the end of this, "Book 3 of the Tamuli." Characters ran around, killed other characters, rescued lovely maidens/wives in distress, and eventually pretty much all got married.
Again, I know these are huge bestsellers, but they just didn't really do it for me.
(Although, I have to admit, the insights here into Troll culture are pretty funny.) ( )
