The illustrations are so whimsical, I could spend hours pouring over each page, and the Swedish holiday traditions within are similar to those of my own family. ( ![]() Astrid Anna Emilia Lindgren (born Ericsson, who died in 2002 at the age of 94), was a Swedish writer of fiction and screenplays. She is best known for [the] children's book series featuring Pippi Longstocking. The illustrator, Maire-Ilon Wikland (née Pääbo) is an Estonian-born Swedish artist and illustrator. . .She was met by Astrid Lindgren. . .who could see immediately that Wikland was able to 'draw fairytales'. . .Wilkand has said that Astrid's writing continually makes her see inner pictures. She also derives inspiration for her pictures from real life. In the same that Astrid Lindgren wrote for 'the child within her,' Wiklandad often also draws for the child within her." Source: Wikipedia.com. In a starred review 'School Library Journal,' the reviewer for this work said, 'A beautiful book for family sharing; the text recounts the joys of young children at Christmas in a Swedish setting. . .a book to be looked at for many holidays to come.'" Oh my goodness these children are adorable. And lucky! With love, and work, even the long dark cold winters of Sweden can be full of joy and good cheer. I enjoyed reading this as a kid! This book is about typical christmas traditions in Bullerby, Sweden. It tells how the seven children experience christmas together in a very traditional way. To my regard, many children do not experience a very traditional way of Christmas anymore. Their man focus is on the presents they will have and not on all the preparations and the wonderful day. Like all the other books of the Bullerby children, it should expire families to put their focus less on the present, but more on time spending together, baking cookies, enjoy the snow (if there is snow) and of the story why Christmas is celebrated. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
