This one teaches kids about karma in a fun and interesting way. A little girl is tricked by a crocodile and when she tries to help him, she becomes trapped. When she finds a way to get free, she gives the crocodile a taste of his own medicine and tricks him into being trapped. He asks her for help but this time she ignores him. The message is about karma but more specifically that if you take advantage of other peoples' kindness or manipulate them, something unfortunate will happen to you. ( )

In my opinion, this is an amazing read for all children. It is a great read, mainly because of it being a cross- cultured book, and how it essentially is bilingual. The story teaches all readers a great lesson about tricks, and honesty, and how there will always be someone there to help you in the end figure out the truth. I truly enjoyed how this fable was one that I have never read before, and it really allows readers the opportunity to learn about other culture's fables. I also loved how the author explained what the song the little girl was singing meant, in the back of the book. The song that was sang, also allows readers the opportunity to know that it is okay to have "make believe" friends, as long as you are happy.

A livley girl by the name of Salome who enjoys singing and dancing with her shadow, is tricked by a cunning crocodile who is trapped in a gully. After doing the crocdile a good deed, Salome finds her self needing to be rescued, Along wiht colorful illustrations and a great story, readers will joy learning Salome's song with the music and lyrics in the back of the book. This book is great for young children, pre-k and up, children can bring Salome, the crocodile and the other animal characters to llife. The book can be retold through puppets and play. Class can re-enact the book. Can also be used for creative & music unit. ( )
