The animals fight over who should be the lord of all and coyote decides, cleverly, terrific illustrations and designs and a clever retelling of the myth. The illustrations are magnificent and said to be true Native American pottery designs.

All of the animals on earth have gathered together in a council in order to decide how to create an ideal leader for themselves (the lord of the animals). Each animal believes that the leader should posses their own best feature, creating much disagreement. The animals’ insistence and vanity prevent the council from reaching a consensus. it seems the council has reached a stale mate, coyote suggests that each animal build a model of their ideal leader out of river clay and they will put the models to a vote. However, it is getting late and all the animals fall asleep, all but cunning coyote. He stays awake and brings his model to life; man. That is why man is the lord of the animals. ( )
