Ellen Stoll Walsh's, "Dot and Jabber and the big bug mystery," was about bugs and different insects being able to camouflage themselves. The mouse detectives knew there were bugs and things around them, but they couldn't figure out why they couldn't see them. They knew there was no way that the bugs could have disappeared, so they must be hiding in plain sight. Eventually the mouse detectives solved the mystery by finding out the bugs were blending in with their surroundings. This would be a great book to teach students how to solve mysteries when they are concerned about something. This book would also be a great opener for a lesson that is teaching students about animals that can camouflage themselves from their prey. ( ) I thought the text very awkward, clunky. And the mice don't have facial expressions or body language. Everything's cute enough, but really not in any way special, engaging, novel. There are other camouflage resources for this age group. But it is by Walsh, and it does have an author's note for the science, so I don't blame the library for buying it. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
