summary: A little girl named Rani claims that her Ami loves and cares about a chicken more than her. It doesn't take long for her to see exactly where Ami is coming from.
reflection: This was such a sweet little book! I thought about how growing up with a sibling, I would think about how my parents probably liked my sister more than they liked me. But now as I'm older, I know it's a mutual kind of love because we are so different.

I found this book slightly enjoyable. I believe the main ideas of this story are to expose readers to Pakistani culture and teach patience.
The text contained language that I enjoyed but I wished it would have included definitions of some of the terms such as "tonga" and "lussi". The context clues partially aided in defining these terms but I wished the text elaborated more.
I did enjoy the colorful and vivid illustrations in the book. I felt the illustrations accurately went along with the text that they accompanied. For example, the page that says "She acts more like an old woman than a chicken. She follows Ami around the yard wherever she goes" contains an illustration that depicts Ami in various places throughout the yard accompanied by the chicken. ( )
