I believe the main ideas of this story are to expose readers to Pakistani culture and teach patience. The text contained language that I enjoyed but I wished it would have included definitions of some of the terms such as "tonga" and "lussi". The context clues partially aided in defining these terms but I wished the text elaborated more. I did enjoy the colorful and vivid illustrations in the book. I felt the illustrations accurately went along with the text that they accompanied. For example, the page that says "She acts more like an old woman than a chicken. She follows Ami around the yard wherever she goes" contains an illustration that depicts Ami in various places throughout the yard accompanied by the chicken. This is about a girl and her mom from Pakistan. Her mom has a chicken that she cares for more then her daughter and her daughter gets very upset. One day the chicken lays an egg but then disappears out of the cage! The mom is very upset but two weeks later a baby chick hatches from the egg. The little giri now loves the new baby chicken more then her mom. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

reflection: This was such a sweet little book! I thought about how growing up with a sibling, I would think about how my parents probably liked my sister more than they liked me. But now as I'm older, I know it's a mutual kind of love because we are so different.
