This is a wonderful ABC book for older children because of the advanced vocabulary that is introduced as well as the exquisite illustrations by Arthur Geisert. The reader also has to find the alphabet that is hidden in each of the intricately detailed illustrations. Arthur Geisert has just become one of my favorite Illustrators. ( )

Now, this book is absolutely genius because it captures that little engineering mind and holds it fast! The clever, industrious little piglets are building a tree house and learning their letters along the way. Arthur Geisert’s art is captivating. This book will entertain the reader and the listener and have you coming back again and again! ( )

This is a classic alphabet book for children learning their abc's for the first time, Each letter is hidden in a picture which makes a good interactive experience for the child as they begin to learn the shapes of each letter and become more aware of what they are looking for.

What an intriguing book. It reminds me of many search and find books from Where's Waldo to Graeme Base's work. These illustrations are brilliantly executed in black and white. The pigs are darling. Each page has not only its own letter, but the previous and the next letters make an appearance as well. ( )

What an amazing book. Geisert has created an alphabet book that is so much more than an alphabet book. Each page features a letter, which is not so unusual in ABC books. But in this book, which has illustrations in beige and gray - etchings? - there is a puzzle to solve. The reader must find seven pigs (who are building a tree house throughout the book) plus five forms of the featured letter and one letter from the previous page plus one letter from the next page. In addition, the text for each illustration features the letter prominently. This is a book to pore over with students. It will make learning the alphabet more than memorization.
