A pamphlet written and drawn by Mauldin on behalf of the US National Parks Service. It contains 18 Mauldin Drawings and about 40 pages of text. The book covers Bill's take on the experience of the Continental Soldier during the War of Independence. I'd say it is either an introduction to the works of Mauldin for the total neophyte, or for Mauldin completists, there is not much new stuff here. ( )

Warfare changes but soldiers never do. That was the idea the National Parks Board had when they recruited the best editorial cartoonist to come out of World War II to write a booklet on the Revolutionary War for the Bicentennial celebration. I don't know if Mauldin got the equipment captured as accurately as he did in his Up Front drawings but he seems to have captured the soldiers and their concerns as well as he did in Italy and Korea.

This little booklet is a must for any Mauldin fan or collector. Thanks to eBay it was not to hard to locate. ( )
