This book was simple and a fast read. I liked how it shows how a child sees their mother sari and shares it with the reader.

A little Indian girl talks about her mothers sari and how it can be so many different things especially when she uses her imagination. This book is good to show different cultures and artifacts. ( )

Nontraditional illustrations that combine photographs with acrylic paint offer the reader an experience in considering all the possibilities that a sari can offer and what that means to her. ( )

I like this book because of its simplicity. This would be a good book for very early readers. Words are repeated and relate-able. The way the little girl talks about her mother's sari kind of make me think of making a fort out of bed sheets, "My mother's sari is long like a train," so I could use that as a way to help child connect with the idea of a sari. But since a sari is a piece of clothing to a different culture the book could be used to start a discussion on different cultures with young children. Since the book does not explain what a sari is though it is important to include that in a lesson especially with young children. ( )
