The Ritual Bath is the story of how Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus met each other. The ritual bath discusses the importance of the ritual bath or mikvah is in Judaism. There is a crazed man raping women at the Yeshiva where Rina Lazarus lives. The book received four stars because it is a believable story and the characters are believable as well. (

THE RITUAL BATH by Faye Kellerman
I learned a lot about Orthodox Judaism from this exciting murder mystery. When a rape takes place outside a Mikvah in an isolated Orthodox community, Rina, who takes care of the Mikvah, meets Detective Peter Decker. An unlikely friendship begins and intensifies with a murder.
Good characterizations, interesting setting, and an intriguing plot that moves at just the right pace make this a great mystery. It is the first book in a series but can be read as a stand-alone.

Dort trifft er die schöne Rina Lazarus, die einzige, die bereit ist, mit der Polizei zu kooperieren. Doch als die beiden sich näher kommen, gerät die Untersuchung in Konflikt mit Rinas Überzeugungen und droht, sie auseinander zu reißen.

I had read this book many years ago and enjoyed it then. I've recently read the 2 newest Faye Kellerman books and was trying to remember how Peter and Rina met. It was fun to go back in time to a day when people used house phones and had very few computers.
Faye Kellerman does an amazing job of creating characters who are so well written and strong that they can continue to delight years later. I'm really glad that I went back to the beginning to see how these two met and started a life long love. (
