North Pole South Pole by Nancy Smiler Levinson is an informational book that informs the reader about the differences between the two places. The book informs the reader about where each Pole is located and the different types of animals that live inside them as well. This would be a great book to read to students if the lesson was on the North Pole and/or the South Pole. This book also taught me useful information that I didn't have knowledge on as well. ( ) This book could be used while studying the north and south poles. It gives informing about temperatures, animals, plants, and people who live there. It has illustrations that are descriptive and will help students to have a better understanding of the two places. They will understand that they are both really cold places while Antartica is not suitable for people to live. This book began by giving the reader a visual of where the North and South Poles could be located on Earth. She included information about the Earth's axis and them moved on to the two major sections. There was a section devoted to the North Pole which included more information than the South Pole section. This is because it had more animals and plants and was habitable. The South Pole section included information about penguins, seals, and birds that are native to the area. There is a final two page spread that compares the two poles making it easy for the reader to see the differences as they lay side by side. The illustrator seemed to use beautiful water colored images with acrylic highlights. The sentences are short and easy to read and would not tax the emergent reader. I would use this in a 1st -4th grade social studies lesson on continents, animals, how man interacts with his environment. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
