Review:
The barn is old. However, the barn savers, a father and son, take care to save everything. So the old barn will never be gone. Somewhere parts of it may live for another hundred years. This is the hope of the barn savers. This is a story talking about a young boy helps his father recycle a 19th-century barn, while learning about his father.
Critique:
This is a historical fiction, because the story happens based on a time period in history, yet it is fictional.
The illustrations are done in watercolor.
Comments on use:
Children can learn about barn savers.
Making children think about how they get along with their father, think the relationship between father and child which is different from the relationship with mother.
Appropriateness age:
Intermediate Middle school

This is probably the clearest example of the writing that Linda Oatman High can do. The literary devices that she makes use of overwhelm me. She truly demonstrated mastery of her subject and interwove multiple layers of complexity into the text. ( )
