It's always helpful to have another opinion on the sound system of Cantonese, which has never been authoritatively described in the same way as Mandarin has, and Mr Yuen's system is useful for comparative purposes, even though his transliteration is full of apostrophes (Wade-Giles style) . However I did notice several instances where the author's idiom didn't match that of Cantonese speakers I know (in chapter 12 particularly, the author uses "ooi" instead of "sik" for the verb 'to be able to', which to me seems to be a Mandarin usage; I've only ever heard Cantonese speakers use "ooi" in the sense of 'to be going to', i.e future tense), and I would check each of the lessons with a native speaker before investing too much time in study.
