Sequel to "Under the Blood-Red Sun." Over a year after Pearl Harbor was bombed, Tomi is man of the house, with his father and grandfather still war prisoners. He is sick about the fact that his father's fishing boat lies at the bottom of a canal, sunken by the Army to prevent Japanese fishermen from aiding the enemy. He wants to raise the boat so that it will be ready for his Dad when he is released from jail. But Tomi is only in 9th grade. Without money or equipment how can he manage the big job of recovering the boat? On top of that, neighbor Keet Wilson is breathing down his neck, keeping his eye on Tomi because he's Japanese. It's the support of friends like Billy, Rico and Mose, and generous adults such as Billy's father and Fumi that help Tomi achieve the goal of raising the boat. Almost seemed to come together for Tomi too easily.

House of the Red Fish is a companion to Under the Blood Red Sun, although it could be called as sequel. It continues the story of Tomi and his family in the years following Pearl Harbor. We see Tomi begin making decisions as the man of the house to stay strong and moral through all the horrible mistreatment that he is put through. I didn't think that I could like any book as much as I liked Under the Blood Red Sun, but I do think that this one is even better. ( )

This is the sequel to Under the Blood-Red Sun. It has been over a year since the attack on Pearl Harbor and things have changed a lot for Tomi. His father and grandfather have been arrested and his father's fishing boat has been sunk. Tomi is now the man of the family and his goal is to raise his father's fishing boat out of the water. This is a huge job and he finds many people to help him with his goal, but he also has trouble with people who are anti-Japanese American and try to stop him.
