Yes, princesses do wear hiking boots, and climb like monkeys, etc., etc. Yeah, this book is useful to help make the princess craze (thanks, Disney, you assholes) less limiting to kids. So if your kid is already into princesses and you need to expand rather vision of princesses, so the kid doesn't limit herself, then this book will be helpful. But if your kid has, somehow, yet escaped the princess BS, then stay away! Because this book will only contribute to the princess-ification of children's lives. ( )

This is one of the cutest picture books I've come across. The message is cheesy but it's also a very good one: being a princess has to do with what's in your heart, not where you live, what you do, or what you wear. I really enjoyed the little activities this particular princess does with her friends and family. Each line of text ends with a word that rhymes with the previous line of text, so this book could be used in a lesson about rhyming words. The author added a page at the end with a mirror on it so whoever is reading the story feels like a little princess and that's got to be my favorite part. I'd read this to first or second graders. Brief Summary: A little girl wonders if she can be a genuine princess and still wear hiking boots. She has a lot of important questions for her mom about princess behavior. Her mother tells her that princesses can be anything and has more to with what we are on the inside.

How to use in a classroom: Students can use this book to pre-read using only pictures, predict what they think the book is about, and then read through using the words.

A lovely question and answer book where a young girl discovers you can be what you want, how you want.

I adored this book because of the illustrations and its overall message. In every illustration of the little girl she is wearing a crown of daisy flowers, depicting that no matter what she likes to do (within reason, of course) she’s still a princess. This books overall message is that every little girl is a princess. She doesn’t need to meet the stereotype of what a princess is supposed to be. She can be herself and still be a princess. I especially like the last page with a mirror stating. “Look inside yourself and see a princess is a place in your heart”. ( )
