First, as a non-fiction book, the writing was organized and engaging. With an informational text, it is hard to engage an audience. However, this book engages the audience by relating it back to the audience. For example, when talking about the order of the planets from the sun, the book begins by saying where we as humans live first. The author writes, "Our planet, Earth, is the third out from the Sun. The planets are all quite different" (p. 4). By relating the new information back to the audience, the text becomes more engaging for the readers. The text overall is also organized well and easy to follow. Each page focuses on a different planet in the solar system, and has a large bolded heading to focus readers into a new subtopic. Overall, the writing is very clear and organized throughout this book. I also like this book because the illustrations are appropriate to the mood of the book. Because this is an informational text, the tone of the book is formal and serious. Therefore, the illustrations should also be formal. The book includes photographs, which is appropriate to the serious and formal tone of the book. Real photographs help show the audience visual examples of the facts that are being shared, and the photographs help portray the serious tone that the author is trying to create. Overall, the big idea of this book is to share different information about the solar system and a description of each planet in our solar system. ( ) inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
