Perfect for exploring colors, shapes, and a good book to grow into with advanced plant words like “rhizome” and “Delphinium”. As visually stimulating as it is educational, Planting a Rainbow teaches children the concept of planting plants and the results of it, as well as the types of plants that can be gardened. An appropriate guided reading fit for children in the grade level K-1, with its easy-to-follow-along reading material, the book makes an excellent practice for children to enable their phonemic and phonics learning in order to comprehend what they’re reading. This is a simple science picture book about the plant cycle. It discusses what seeds look like, how they grow, and even which seasons you plant them in and how the weather effects the growing seeds. I would use this book for younger science classes since they would most likely be learning about the plant cycle at these stages. Not to mention that this book is simple enough that kids at all reading levels would be able to understand. A girl and her mom plant a colorful garden every year. She talks about what season to plant the seeds and when they bloom. This book helps the reader understand why there are so many flower and plants blooming in the spring. This story is designed to teach a young child what the process is for things to grow. This is a great way to introduce a science lesson to preschoolers with the use of a book to show the stages of the plants. This story teaches about planting seeds and taking care of them so they will grow and allows students to learn their colors as each of the plants begin to bloom. This story is very unique as it brings together the learning of how to plant a garden and colors at the same time.
