What I was looking, the vision for the future, for was finally talked about on page 220. That's far too late into 240 page book. In the words of Prince Humperdinck, skip to the end. ( ) As enlightening and ground-breaking as [b:Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art|102920|Understanding Comics The Invisible Art|Scott McCloud|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1328408101l/102920._SX50_.jpg|2415847] was, I'm actually shocked that this one is a DNF for me. I love the concept of the book, but damn, it's drrrrrrryyyyyyy. I may come back to this some day, but for now, nope. Better as a cultural artefact than anything else (though I did occasionally enjoy certain historical tidbits). Perhaps this would have been more hard-hitting if I had read it when it was published in 2000, but half-assed discussions of diversity and cutting edge technology like CD-ROMs makes it woefully obsolete (and the writing wasn't anywhere near as engaging as its predecessor). Understanding Comics needs an update just because I'm interested in his take on the subject matter now; this is in dire need of an update for it to maintain any measurable relevance. ******* Counting as my (FINAL!) Panels Read Harder item for a book about comics. > Sous forme de BD, une analyse extrêmement poussée du potentiel de développement de la BD que ce soit dans les thèmes, dans les modes de diffusion, en lien avec le numérique… mais limité au seul marché des Etats-Unis encore aujourd'hui dominé par les super-héros. --Revue Silence, fév. 2016 inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
