I would have given it a full 5/5 stars, but there were quite a few parts - especially near the beginning and near the end - where I was reading confused. I personally liked most of the characters, who at first seemed like the normal stereotypes for similar characters, but they eventually showed themselves to be more than the stereotypes. I did really like the plot line as well, but there were quite a few parts where I felt like the story wasn’t going anywhere and not really progressing. Second Review: So upon reading this book for a second time, I still enjoyed the overall plot line. The characters still really annoyed me in general. I think Anne Rice did a good job in world building, but character development was iffy with most of the characters (most of them went downhill rather than having any real/good development, in my opinion).
