I loved "The Brocaded Slipper" when my second-grade teacher read it to us all those years ago, and the entirety of the book is just as enchanting as I'd hoped it would be, delving a little deeper into a handful of familiar tales. ( ) When I was in the fourth grade, I was elected to attend the young writers workshop. At the time, I was determined to be a writer when I got older, and eagerly agreed to attend. The group I was placed in rotated through three or so writers, and one of them happened to be the author of this book. She had some inspiring words, and I bought her book at the 'meet the author' night. Thrilled that I had the opportunity, she signed it for me. Now that I've grown and my tastes have changed (not that I had a passion for the book when I was younger), I don't enjoy reading the book as much. The Brocaded Slipper is a collection of short stories. Each story is a Vietnamese version of Grimm's fairytales, gruesome endings and all. If you enjoyed reading Grimm's accounts of how Cinderella met her demise, then by all means try it out. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
