Many of the best episodes were produced in the First Season, and these are both strong, memorable episodes. "Mudd's Women" was co-written by creator Gene Roddenberry and features Harry Mudd, a recurring character who is a favorite of many fans. "The Enemy Within" was written by Richard Matheson of I am Legend fame. "The Enemy Within" was a rather brave episode, especially since this was a very early episode and dealt with an ugly side of Kirk--and early on he was very much the star, the center of the show. But it makes for a powerful, if disturbing episode. Both are very watchable episodes. ( )
