I feel bad for Junie in this story because Junie wanted to be a part of an event at school yet because of limitations she had to find a new way. Yet it is children can relate because most children have pets, i think another way children and families can relate is because parents end up helping children with events and projects. At the end of the story junies mom help her by bring her a dead fish on a dog leash.

The Junie B. Jones series follows a fictional child named Junie who tends to get herself into trouble. She is very unique and has her own way of thinking. In this book of the series, she is celebrating pet day at her school, but she does not have a pet that she can bring. She searches and searches for a pet that she can bring to school but cannot see to find one. However, she finds fish sticks in her freezer and since a fish stick. Fish can be pets so she decides that her fish stick can qualify for a pet on Pet Day. The lesson of this story is to adapt to the challenges you are faced with and get through them by being flexible and understanding. The key details supported the main message through her reaction to the challenges of not having a pet to bring to school. She had to find ways to bring an animal to school that complied to the rules given to her. Although she did not bring a real pet, she still followed the rules and brought what she had available to her. ( )

Junie B. Jones can't take her dog to pet day at school, so she tries to find a different pet to take. She goes through a raccoon, a worm, and a dead fish. She ends up finding a pet and the pet even wins an award. I love the Junie B. Jones series and this book in particular can show children to not give up and is very entertaining to read. ( )

There are several reasons I absolutely loved this book. The first reason is because of the hysterical plot. It was pet day at school but the kids weren't allowed to bring in cats or dogs, only animals in cages or bowls. Junie B. had a hard time finding a pet to bring in since she couldn't bring her dog, until the last minute when she spotted something in the freezer. A fish stick! "'After that, I quick unzipped my zipper pocket. And I held up my pet for everyone to see. "FISH STICK!" I said real delighted."' This was the best thing I had read all day, Junie B. Jones is certainly one of the funniest books. The second reason I liked this book was because of the engaging writing used throughout. "'I did a sad sigh. "Where's the justice here, Helen?" I asked. Grandma smiled very understanding. Then she gave me a hug. And she said don't call her Helen.'" I found this quote quite funny as Junie B. called her grandma by her first name. I could see little kids doing something exactly like this in the real world. The last reason I liked this book was because of the point of view. The point of view was first person, as Junie B. Jones was telling the story. "'JUNIE B. JONES! WHAT IN THE WORLD DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?" It was Mother. She was back from the truck, apparently. "I think I am sliding Sparkle," I said kind of nervous."' From this quote you can see how Junie took in the situation when her mom came inside to find her pulling a dead fish on the dog leash. Overall, I feel that the 'big idea' of this book was to teach children to never give up. In the end Junie was able to find a pet to bring to school, and her pet even won the most behaved award. ( )
