On the Field with Peyton and Eli was a very interesting book as the Manning family as a whole. I liked this book because it talks about the whole family as well as Peyton and Eli. For example, the beginning of the book is about Archie Manning, their father, and mentions their lesser-known brother, Cooper. I liked that aspect because I always thought Cooper was just never an athlete but you find out in the book he was very good at football but the book informs the reader he had spinal stenosis, which caused numbness in his body. I appreciate that the book mentions him so that people can get to know some of his story. I also liked how the author did Peyton’s entire story and then did Eli’s entire story, instead of overlapping the stories based on time because that would become confusing. The last thing I liked about the story were the text features. In the middle of the story were pictures of the Manning’s. These pictures were from their college and pro careers, including key moments in their career. At the end of the book the author included Peyton and Eli’s stats, as well as their year-by-year highlights and awards. The main idea of this story was to inform readers of the life and career of the Mannings, specifically Eli and Peyton. ( )

This is great story of a great football family. It tells the story of what drove Peyton and Eli to become football players.

I have this book in the library in my classroom. The pre-k students love to see real life pictures of football players. Some of the students even recognize them. ( )
