This is another one of my favorite picture books! My mom use to tell me all about the three Billy goats. I have read this to my two daughters, and they absolutely love it! This book is so cute and funny. LOVE LOVE it ( )

The book tells that three goats try to get over the bridge to go eat on the hillside to get fat, and the biggest goat butted the troll who hides under the bridge and will not let them pass. I would use this book in my teaching, because the illustrations in this book are really good, and the story is really interesting for 1st readers to read. ( )

The Three Billy Goats Gruff could be categorized as a "trickster tale" under the heading of folktale. For this reason, the story is an excellent example of a folktale when it comes to teaching types of stories in literature. The story is also simple and somewhat repetitive, so that is another teachable literature trait that can be taught.

I really liked reading this book. The first reason I liked reading this story was because of the illustrations. The goats were drawn with lots of detailed and looked exactly how the text described them. The facials that the goats made during the story obviously portrayed the emotions that the goats were feeling. Another reason that I liked this book was because of the plot. The plot was suspenseful throughout the whole story, I was not sure whether or not the goats were going to be able to get to the other side of the bridge without getting eaten by the troll who lived under it.The main theme of this book is that sometimes getting what you want/need can be hard, but it is worth it in the end. The billy goats needed to get to the other side of the bridge to get food, but they were scared of the troll. They decided to stand up to him and they made it to the other side of the bridge where they needed to be. ( )
