This book describes a young girl who tells the reader what she did and didn’t do when she was little and describes the different things she does now that she’s older. This is a great Read aloud book for children because although the illustrator does a great job of depicting the storyline, it would be hard to follow the story if the words were not on the pages. The book is also repetitive and contains the words, “when I was little” on every page so the reader is able to predict what the next words will be by using context clues. This could spark an interest for the reader because they feel as though they are beginning to read the book on their own. ( ) I really enjoyed this book. It was about a little girl’s celebration of herself as she looks back at her childhood from the age of four and a half years old. I liked this book because of the illustrations. The pictures enhanced the text and gave the reader a clear understanding of what the author was trying to convey. For example, the text was clearly represented through the illustration on each page. Another reason I enjoyed this book was because it showed growth. For example, on some pages it shows the girl when she was a baby and what she used to do versus her now and what her “grown up” self does. The main idea of the book is the joyous spirit of growing up. Summary: Very cute story about a four-year-old's memoir of her youth. She talked about things like "when I was little, I had silly hair. Now I can wear it in a ponytail or braids or pigtails or a pom-pom." Every page is about things she used to not be able to do and what she can do now. Personal summary: I would read this story to younger children. This book is told from the perspective of a four year old who expresses what life was like when she was a little girl. Now she is old enough to braid her hair, paint her toenails, and go to nursery school. This book captures the special moments when she was a little girl at the age of four. I think this is a cute little book to read to children that have grown up from being a four year old and look back on experiences similar to their own. I thought the images tied in the story as well. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension
