2012 Reread: I got lost in this for a month. My very first full reread since the series hit its ending. Since I knew where it would start and go and end up. It was just as terrible, wonderful, painful, heartbreaking, heart healing, amazing as every other read. I never stop knowing my heart belongs to this. ( )

Forse l'albo più bello finora: toccante ed intenso, ma sempre così profondamente "umano". I nostri protagonisti possono struggersi per un brutto litigio e un momento dopo scherzare con un amico, o valutare offerte di lavoro. Perchè la vita è così che fa, va avanti che tu sia pronto oppure no. E la forza di questo fumetto sta proprio nel creare personaggi tridimensionali, con cui è facile empatizzare: forse le vicende sono un po' bizzarre e fuori dal comune (d'altronde è pur sempre una graphic novel), ma emozioni e sentimenti sono sempre credibili. Non a caso a mio parere i momenti meno riusciti sono stati quelli in cui questo realismo è venuto a mancare, in favore di eccessi anche grotteschi. Questo volume per fortuna ne è quasi completamente privo, ed in più getta le basi per degli sviluppi futuri intriganti: senz'altro il mio preferito, e spero che d'ora in poi si mantengano tutti su questo livello. This is the kind of comic book that will interest readers outside of the comics' world. The mix of medias , narrative, graphics are of a very high quality. The plot is extremely interesting, and I cannot recommend enough to read the whole series starting from the start, because things will make sense once they're read in order. The timeline is also mixed up at times, because the narrative occasionally demands to have some focus on past events. There even are some alternate endings.

You will enjoy reading about the adventures of Katchoo, David and Francine. Expect mafia, treason, love, friendships, action and romance... ( )

Strangers in Paradise is the magnum opus if frustrated comic strip artist Terry Moore. I say frustrated because he’s spent many years trying to break into the Sunday comics pages only to realize that he has a much longer and more involved story to tell. SIP is the story of Katchoo, Francine, and David, three completely different individuals who all love each other and who are all not sure just how to work that out. Between jobs, relationships and even the mob, the three come to depend on each other and in the end can’t help but hurt each other at the same time. ( )
