The rabbits on the cover of this book looked very familiar to me from my childhood, but I don't know where it was from. The names, Ruby and Max, also sound familiar from my childhood. This book had fun, colorful illustrations that are perfect for a child. The text used primarily simple sentences, making it perfect for early readers. Rosemary Wells also used colorful, floating numbers to help count the participants of the lunch Ruby and Max are having. ( )

Ruby, Max's sister decides to give their grandma bunnie a tea party so they can spend quality time together. Ruby does not invite Max's toys to the tea party. She only invites her toys. Max then gets upset, so he replaces her toys with his toys. Ruby tries to do the math in her head but gets confused. She then counts her guest using her mathematical skills. This book is perfect for a mini mathematics lesson. I enjoyed how all the toys have different unique names to them. Rosemary Wells takes a simple story about a party and turns it into a mathematics lesson for young children. This story is in comparison to "Max cleans up" and "Max and Ruby's First Greek Myth" because she is still using animals as characters to address situations in every day life. This book was different than her other books because she incorporates a mathematics lesson into a story to make it fun and engaging for her younger audience. ( )

Rosemary Wells bring backs her usual bunny characters Max and Ruby for another kid's story. The story is about their grandmother who is coming over to celebrate her birthday. Ruby and Max must set up the table for themselves, their grandmother, and 7 other guests who happen to be Ruby's dolls. During the story, Ruby makes arrangements for the 7 guest but Max secretly dresses up his own stuff animals and confuses his sister.

Wells keeps the personality for her characters intact. Max is still a mischievous little boy and Ruby is still assertive, however, in this story she is a little confused to why there are more than 7 guest showing up at the table.I like how in the pictures the illustrator illustrates Max with a mischievous smile during the events when he dresses up his stuff animals. I also like how the assertive Ruby is confused. The pages are simple to read with only a few words with the pictures portraying most of what the author is saying. In the end, this is a good book just like the other Bunny books by Rosemary Wells ( )

Another Max and Ruby book, this one is centered around a party and there is an episode that is similar to this so that it would be perfect for doing a book and an episode. I love this series because it is based on morals and family.

Ruby, Max's sister is throwing a birthday party for Grandma, but doesn't let Max invite any of his guests. So, once Ruby set up the table and guests, Max found a way to disguise his guests and moved Ruby's guest to another place. Ruby thought she was having trouble with her counting but she didn't realize that Max had added three unexpected guests at the table. ( )
