Go green with this rollicking guide to eco-friendly cleaning alternatives that will help you save your health, your money, and your planet. How many times have you said you're killing yourself trying to keep your house clean? You might have been joking, but you're closer to the truth than you think if you're using expensive commercial cleansers. Karen Logan, an environmentalist with years of experience developing and selling her own line of eco-friendly cleaning products, reveals the secret of using simple, ordinary ingredients--like baking soda, vinegar, soap, lemon juice, and salt--to make safe, inexpensive cleaners. For instance, did you know: -Olive oil is not only good as a salad dressing, but also as a furniture polish. -Plain club soda works great as a window cleaner. -You can make your copper-bottomed pots sparkle with just lemon juice and salt. -Ordinary liquid soap and water will clean up those ants marching through your kitchen.… (mer)

There are a lot of good ideas in here, but once I discovered the "green" cleaning products at my local organic grocery story, I haven't bothered making anything from this book.

This book introduced me to the joys of baking soda and vinegar, but there's so much more that I'd like to do with it. Malcolm and I would like to create a Cleaning Basket full of products made from the recipes in this book, all stored in attractive bottles and containers. The idea is to make cleaning fun and healthy, and would love to do that as a project with others. ( )

A great resource for nontoxic cleaning. Logan gives a simple recipe for every cleaning use with tips for how to clean. I read the book cover to cover and found her very repetitive as she has to keep saying 'the store brand is toxic.' I'm definitely going to try out the recipes, though, and look forward to cleaning (a true sign of the success of the book). ( )

I really love this book - I don't like to use chemical cleaners, because I have pets and I don't want them to get sick. This book is full of cheap, environmentally-sound solutions. ( )

Roxanne's pick. For those who are "lazy" about cleaning and are interested in environmentally-friendly house cleaning.
