Lori had always planned to escape Tumble Creek after high school but after her father ended up in vegetative state she left college and has run his garage ever since, even after his death. Lori is a great mechanic but she's frustrated by being stuck in a life she never wanted. When her best friend's older brother, Quinn, asks for Lori's help with his backhoe they quickly discover that the chemistry between them is too extreme to ignore. But is their sudden relationship enough to break Lori out of the rut she's stuck in? Enjoyable second entry in the series. As I have said before I HEART VICTORIA DAHL! Ok, now that has been said I am going to say that I like this book least of all she has written. That does not mean I didn't like it, I just liked every other book more than this one. It is still an excellent book! I will forever more read every single thing this lady writes. I enjoyed this book because it is far away from where I live. I can see the mountains, the snow, and all the crazy beautiful winters. I don't have that here, so this book is one of my vacation escapes. I also enjoyed the way Lori is not the typical girl, being a women in a "man's profession" I felt that I could relate to her a lot easier than I could many other contemporary romance heroines. I also love the sexiness that is Quinn...I have known many a character in my day and anytime they are named Quinn they are sex incarnate...and this one is no exception. I love the lines that Ms. Dahl walks in this book when it comes to the sensual scenes, they are crazy hot and very edgy. I say *high five*. I did not like the fact that this book starts slow. I also don't like the fact that Lori is so darn stubborn; she is unnaturally stubborn in my opinion and I did not like that...she could have saved a lot of trouble had she just let go. Hmm...other than that, I loved everything else. I hear this book as much as I do all her other and can't wait to get my hands on whatever she is working on next. inga recensioner | lägg till en recension

Small town mechanic, Lori Love, has always longed for adventure away from Tumble Creek, but the responsibilities of family and business have kept her at home. According to her best friend, Molly, all that Lori really needs is hot sex and lots of it, and she has just the candidate - her nerdy brother, Quinn Jennings. Uninterested in the angst of romance, Quinn is ready and eager to oblige, but the no-strings attached relationship soon gets old when someone starts targeting Lori, and Quinn’s protective instincts and his heart are kicked into overdrive.
As with the first book in this series, the story begins well as Lori and Quinn become reacquainted and realize that they have more in common than his sister. Quinn is sexy and sweet, and his chemistry with Lori is off the charts - their banter and forays into sexual fantasy makes for some seriously steamy reading.
Unfortunately, similar to book #1, the last few chapters are a letdown as the mystery fizzles and Lori’s irrational behavior puts a damper on the romance. Nevertheless, Start Me Up is an entertaining read with engaging characters and I’m looking forward to the final installment in the series. ( )
