I love Liz Carlyle's writing but I did not enjoy this book. I was looking forward to reading Zoe's story, but this was difficult to endure. It is odd, there is no epilogue, since this is the last in the series and the H/h don't finalize things until the end. On the plus side, It was good to revisit characters from the previous novels. 2 to 2.5 stars (

This really is one of my favorite romances. It is so obvious the protagonists love each other, before they know it themselves, and their journey is beautifully written. This one book that made me cry several times.

And laugh: there are several references to the BBC Pride and Prejudice series in this book. (

Zoe Armstrong lets impulsiveness get the best of her, gets caught in a compromising position with her best friend, and finds herself shipped off to the country with both of their extended families in tow as they are forced to prepare for a marriage absolutely no one wants to happen.

At this point, I would have expected hijinks to ensue but this a more serious book so despair and angst ensue instead. I thought the story was a bit longer than it needed to be, but otherwise an interesting and satisfying read and I really loved how everything played out in the end.

Also, kudos to the smirking lady on the cover. Love her expression. (

I'm not a big fan of the plot devices used in the book. Zoe and her distant cousin Robin act foolishly and are engaged to each other within pages of the beginning of the book but neither one of them want to be engaged. Their close friendship disintegrates as both love other characters but won't do anything about it (until the last chapter). These two plus the hero acted childishly for much of the book and I wanted to tell them to grow up. There were a few attempts at character development but they were superficial at best. Not Liz Carlyle's best effort. (

Anche questo libro parte molto bene, frizzante e divertente, per poi naufragare nel filone della tragedia incombente. Della serie bisogna espiare per rifarsi "una verginità", insomma. Perchè l'eroina, quando è un po' wicked, immorale, deve pagare i suoi debiti e al rake di turno si perdona ogni cosa? Comunque, qui lui non è un rake, un libertino. Al contrario. E' della serie quellituttidunpezzo che mi piace tanto. Tutto sommato, più che leggibile. (
